About this policy
ClipQuiz is a music trivia app developed by Josh Tisdale. This policy explains how the app handles information and how you can manage your choices. ClipQuiz is free and ad-free. We do not sell personal information or use your activity for advertising or tracking across other companies’ apps and websites.
No third-party analytics
The current ClipQuiz release does not include a third-party analytics SDK and does not collect or send usage analytics to the developer or an analytics provider. Player names, game settings, song details, recordings, speech transcripts, and spoken answers are not sent to the developer.
Microphone and speech recognition
ClipQuiz uses your microphone and Apple’s speech recognition to understand spoken answers and game commands. Audio may be processed by Apple’s servers; recognition is not guaranteed to take place entirely on your device.
ClipQuiz does not retain audio recordings or send recordings or transcripts to the developer. Recognized text is used for gameplay on your device. Apple’s processing is governed by its own privacy practices.
Apple Music
With your permission, ClipQuiz uses Apple Music to find and play song clips. Playing requires an eligible Apple Music subscription. We do not receive your Apple account credentials or send your Apple Music account or library details to the developer. Apple handles music service requests under its own policies. See Apple’s privacy information.
Information stored on your device
ClipQuiz keeps information locally to support the game, including preferences, song history, blocked songs, and support-prompt progress. Player names and spoken answers are used locally for gameplay.
Optional tips are processed by Apple through the App Store. ClipQuiz stores transaction identifiers and a contribution count locally to avoid counting a tip twice and to show support prompts less often. We do not receive your payment card details. Tips do not unlock features.
Your choices and data retention
- Permissions: manage microphone, speech recognition, and Apple Music permissions in your device’s Settings. Disabling required permissions can prevent gameplay.
- Local data: deleting the app removes its local app data from that device. Copies in device backups are managed through your Apple backup settings; offloading the app can preserve its data.
Earlier prerelease builds offered optional TelemetryDeck analytics. The current release sends no new events. Removing the SDK does not delete events previously sent with consent; those events remain subject to TelemetryDeck’s retention and deletion practices. Because we did not associate those events with your name or email, we may be unable to identify your individual events in response to a request. Apple manages retention of information it processes, including App Store purchases, under its own policies.
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, restrict, or object to processing of personal information, obtain a portable copy, withdraw consent, or complain to a data protection authority. Contact us to make a request. Withdrawing consent does not affect processing that occurred before withdrawal.
